Getting to Busan

Where is Busan?

Busan sits at the very southern tip of the Korean peninsula — as far south as you can go before you hit the sea. It's about 325km from Seoul, roughly the distance from London to Paris, or New York to Boston.

Korea is a small country. Busan doesn't feel far from anywhere. 🐾

Here are the 5 transport hubs:

(A) Gimhae International Airport (김해국제공항) Busan's gateway to the skies, Gimhae International Airport is located in nearby Gimhae city, just west of Busan. It operates both domestic and international flights, connecting Busan to major cities across Asia and beyond. Flying from Seoul (Gimpo) takes about 1 hour.

Getting from the airport to the city:

🚇 Busan-Gimhae LRT + Subway: Take the light rail from the airport to Sasang Station (about 10 minutes), then transfer to Metro Line 2. From Sasang, it's about 15 minutes to Seomyeon and about 40 minutes to Haeundae. It takes the longest when you factor in transfer time, but it's by far the cheapest option!

🚌 Airport Limousine Bus: Great if you have a lot of luggage or just want a comfortable, no-transfer ride. Seomyeon in about 34 minutes, Haeundae in about 1 hour. Note that travel times may vary depending on traffic.

🚗 Taxi / Private Car: Thanks to the Mandeok-Centum Urban Expressway that opened in February 2026, you can reach Centum City from the airport in about 35 minutes by taxi!

(T) Busan Station (부산역) Busan Station(Train) is the southern terminus of the Gyeongbu Line, Korea's busiest rail corridor connecting Busan to Seoul. The KTX high-speed train can whisk you to Seoul in just about 2 hours 15 minutes (SRT from Suseo in about 2 hours 30 minutes), making it a popular choice for intercity travel. The station is located in the Jung-gu district, close to the waterfront and the International Ferry Terminal.

(B1) Busan Central Bus Terminal (부산종합버스터미널) Located in Nopo-dong in northern Busan, this is the city's largest and busiest intercity bus terminal. It handles the majority of express and intercity bus routes connecting Busan to destinations all across Korea, including frequent services to Seoul (about 4 hours). The terminal is directly connected to Nopo Station on Metro Line 1, making it easy to reach from anywhere in the city. If you want to travel overnight and start exploring fresh the next morning, the Seoul Gyeongbu (서울 경부)→ Busan (Nopo) route runs late into the night with the last departure at 2:00 AM

(B2) Busan Seobu Bus Terminal (부산서부버스터미널) Commonly known as Sasang Bus Terminal, this western hub serves routes heading toward the south and west coast of Korea — Gwangju in about 3.5 hours, Mokpo in about 4 hours. Conveniently located at Sasang Station, it's directly connected to both Metro Line 2 and the Busan-Gimhae LRT to the airport.

(F) Busan International Ferry Terminal (부산국제여객터미널) Busan's International Ferry Terminal is the departure point for sea routes connecting Korea to Japan, with regular ferry services to Fukuoka, Shimonoseki, and Osaka. Located near Busan Station in the Jung-gu waterfront area, it's very conveniently situated for travellers. The scenic ferry crossing to Fukuoka takes around three hours by high-speed jetfoil!
